A wet-pour safety surface is made using a base layer of SBR (styrene butadiene rubber) granules mixed with a polyurethane resin. This layer varies in depth depending on the critical fall height (CFH) or free fall height (FFH), which is determined by the height of the play equipment on the site. The wearing course layer of EPDM rubber crumb is then mixed with a polyurethane resin and mixed on site.
Wet-pour granules are available in a variety of colours. The colour of the EPDM, along with the depth and size of the area being covered, will affect the cost involved for the job.
